The statewide bridge crises of 2016-2018 forever changed the way bridge inspections will be done in Mississippi, and Dungan Engineering isn’t looking back. Instead, Dungan is looking underneath the decks, on top of the decks and beneath the beams, and in other critical areas to help ensure the bridges under its care are strong, safe and up to the standards set forth by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Dungan has invested in the newest technology to enable bridge inspectors to get up close and personal with their structures — a pair of Anderson Hydra Platforms, a mobile, motorized inspection unit that can lower and extend beneath bridge decks to take inspectors to every inch, within an inch, of the span. Dungan deploys these units all over the state in partnerships with the Mississippi Department of Transportation; Volkert; Brown, Mitchell and Alexander; The Walker Associates and other companies to perform load ratings surveys, scour analyses and counter-measure design, and bridge repair designs.
