Water Treatment & Distribution
It can’t all be done at once, and without a good plan, it can hardly be done at all. But Magee’s Creek Water Association in Walthall County has a plan, developed by Dungan Engineering, to carry the rural water provider through the next two decades. When it came time to pull the trigger on a series of need upgrades, the firm presented the Magee’s Creek board with long-range capital improvements plan to begin ticking items off the wish list, one by one — a new treatment plant to replace the existing plant, which is near the end of its life cycle; corrections to hydraulic grade issues at a pair of existing elevated water storage tanks; a new 500 gallon per minute well; nearly 50 miles of new distribution lines; and the replacement of all system meters with wireless units. The new well was the first item to be completed, and the new tank and treatment plant are on the list for funding through the state’s Revolving Loan Fund Program with a target completion date of spring 2022.
