Description:
Mark Twain said, “Buy land — they aren’t making it anymore.” Griner Real Estate in Columbia saw the wisdom in that, grabbing a 4.5-acre piece of commercial property on the south side of Highway 98 in the main stretch of the city’s retail area, near big-box stores, pharmacies and several restaurants. But the property was just red dirt and grass until the Griners asked Dungan Engineering to make the tract business-ready. The project saw the installation of 1,450 feet of curb-and-gutter streets connected to the highway by a pair of wide entrance ramps. A subsurface drainage system was added to keep the property dry, and utilities were routed in and around the site. A pair of new businesses had built new stores on the Griner tract within the year.
